True enough, HTC recently sent out media invitations for said event with the tagline, “double exposure” which could hint at the unveiling of the two rumored devices. The publication says the camera, as well as a new smartphone with a high-megapixel front-facing camera optimized for selfies, could break cover at a press event on October 8 in New York City. HTC may even create its own applications for Apple and Google platforms, we’re told. The HTC action camera sounds a lot like Sony’s line of lens camera systems in that users will be able to link it to their smartphones, presumably for composition, control and image review purposes. The anonymous tipster added that the tube-shaped camera would be able to connect directly to Android and iOS devices using either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. HTC is reportedly developing an action camera of their own, a waterproof model for extreme sports, as they look rely less on the smartphone market they’ve struggled with for the past few years.Ī person familiar with the plans recently told Bloomberg that the device in question would feature an ultra wide-angle lens and a 16 megapixel sensor. GoPro has remained largely unchallenged in the action camera market it single-handedly created but that could be changing soon. ![]()
